Haisheng, the largest producer of fruit juice pulp in China, needed an apple storage and –sorting facility. For 15.000 tons of apples, FFT designed a functional building, with optimal logistic routing, and including offices, canteen, dormitory and a small supermarket.
The steel construction is calculated according to Chinese regulations and steel profiles; easy to understand for any Chinese steel company.
Consultancy CA
The multifunctional building includes different climates, which need a well-balanced cooling- and CA system, controlled with one central interface. The CA system is an important part of the storage process, and largely dependent on a good cooling system; the integrated control system gives the operator a system for both CA and cooling control.
The Haisheng CA system is designed especially for prolonged storage of apples in low oxygen conditions. The CA system should have ample capacity to get the apples on the desired regime quickly.
Panels
FFT specified the way insulation should be applied in and outside the building. The best way to build gastight cold rooms is to make a free standing sandwich panels construction. Gastight cold rooms should be built with free standing sandwich panels. FFT set out the specifications for insulation, foam, silicone and gas tightness coating, to be applied, for the best quality and long lifespan. The exterior of the building is insulated to keep heat out.
Cooling
For good efficiency, enough redundancy and reliability reasons, an ammonia-glycol cooling system is set up. The cold and warm glycol circuits make it possible to have different temperatures in the building.
Designed for the future
The building is ready for the future; design and construction are done according to the best specifications, which makes the facility ready to be used for 30 years or more. Preparations are made to change to dynamic storage of apples in the near future.
