MKC Agro Fresh, a fruit trader based in Delhi, needed a multi-functional fruit facility close to the New Delhi market. Because of the small area available, the building needed different levels.
FFT designed a highly functional, 4-level building;
- First floor for storing apples, mango and lemon
- Second floor for offices and technical equipment
- Third floor for freezer storage, apple storage and banana ripening
- Mango sorting line on a mezzanine
Consultancy
FFT designed the building from outline to every detail, according to Western-European standards, taking the limited available construction materials in India into account. FFT supervised the building of the steel structure and concrete flooring.
CA rooms
FFT specified the instructions for insulation within the building. Gastight cold rooms should be built with free standing sandwich panels. FFT set out the specifications for insulation, foam, silicone and gas tightness coating, to be applied, for the best quality and long lifespan. The exterior of the building is insulated to keep heat out.
Cooling and CA
The different climates in this multifunctional building put high demands on the cooling- and CA system.
FFT recommended an integrated control system for an easy overview of all processes (and alarms) in the building. A Freon (134A)-Glycol system makes it possible to provide a cold and warm glycol circuit for CA rooms (cooling), banana ripening (cooling & heating), sorting areas and corridors (cooling and heating) and freezing rooms (cooling). Because of the heat recovery system, no energy will be wasted. The CA system is ready to be extended with another 11 CA rooms in the near future.
