Design 31 CA rooms, sorting area and office
Shaheen Agro Fresh in Kashmir, India, needed a new storage facility for 3500 MT of apples. FFT designed the facility with 31 CA rooms, divided over a number of rooms of different sizes. For the cold Kashmir winters, FFT designed a closed and insulated technical corridor that protects the CA equipment from frost and other influences (like wild animals).
The FFT design also included a sorting and office area for a complete logistical chain.
Construction Apple storage facility
Construction of the CA rooms started in June, 2014. FFT’s (Dutch) supervisors guided the construction phase. The joint forces of Dutch supervisors and Indian skilled labour resulted in a good, efficient panel building , according to the high standards for gas tightness. The special CA doors were installed and adjusted by the supervisors.
The CA installation was specifically designed for the climate conditions in Kashmir. For cold winters all moving parts/valves are placed in a temperature conditioned corridor. The installation of CA equipment was performed in September, just in time for the apple season. The usage of Van Amerongen CA equipments as well as the new APP|ell control system will ensure the best results after storage.
